There's no denying that this is the best non-fiction story I've read in a very long time. "When Breath Becomes Air" by Paul Kalanithi is not just about his journey from being a doctor to a patient.

But it's also about embracing the inevitable truth that even though all lives have equal value, some deaths are particularly unfair. Or cruel, to state it more emotionally. It's a short book with layers of touching subjects; work and family, child and father, doctor and patient, and finally life and death. These are interesting juxtapositions that you don't really have to be a doctor or dying from an illness to comprehend. And if you decide to give this book a try, you'll also understand what acceptance looks like for a life cut short.
